9110: Classic Supreme Court Cases and the Story Behind Them

February 2-6
11:45 AM - 1:15 PM
In-Person

This course will present the stories behind five classic US Supreme Court cases, famous for the legal precedent that they set. While the names of the cases may be familiar, and everyone has heard of Brown v. Board of Education, how many know that “Brown” refers to Oliver Brown and his young daughter Linda? We will attempt to breathe life into the dry history behind some of the most important cases that the court has considered. We will view videos that will help us better understand the issues and encourage dialogue between class participants with varying opinions.
