Perched atop the National Press Building within sight of the White House and just down Pennsylvania Avenue from the US Capitol, the National Press Club is the meeting place in Washington for newsmakers and journalists.  Through its doors have come presidents, premiers, kings and queens, cabinet secretaries, senators and house members, movie stars and sports heroes, titans of business and finance—a who’s who of the 20th and the 21st centuries—eager to share their views on current events with the media and the public.

We are so fortunate to have Gil Klein -- a former President of the Club and an OLLI study group leader -- as our guide for this event. Gil has a vast knowledge of the Club and its history. You might want to purchase his book, Tales from the National Press Club, a fascinating look into the history and major events at the Club. It is available on Amazon.

We will meet at 2:00 PM in the lobby of the National Press Building at 529 14th St. near the corner of 14th and F streets about a block from Metro Center. We will start with a short tour of the area around the Press Building to explain what the neighborhood was like in 1908 and why the Press Building was constructed on that spot. Then we will ascend to the Club at the top of the Press Building for the main part of our tour. This is a free event. Register now! Limited to 15 participants.
