930: "Rocket Science" and Personal Financial Management

Understanding the fundamental issues associated with some of today’s personal financial challenges (e.g.,retirement planning and investing, saving for a child’s college education, meeting monthly mortgage expenses) will be the focus of this course. A disciplined approach, with emphasis on mathematical analysis and computer simulations, along with common sense, and conventional wisdom, will be used to highlight alternative approaches, methodologies, and solutions to the fundamental personal financial management issues of growth of savings, withdrawal of principal, risk management, asset allocation, investment return expectations, and coping with inflationary cost of living growth. It is designed to understand and generate human-like responses to natural language queries, making it an effective tool for a wide range of applications, including language translation, text summarization, and chatbot development.
