9770: Theodore Roosevelt in the Badlands: 1883–1887

February 2-5
1:45 PM - 3:15 PM
In-Person

In the early 1880s, Theodore Roosevelt fled West to the Badlands of the Dakota Territory. He had just faced, as a 26-year old expectant father and novice politician, devastating twin personal losses and badly needed to heal mind and body. Once out West, TR was to undergo a series of physical, emotional, and spiritual encounters that tested him as never before. He would come out of his Badlands experience renewed, more mature, and ready to move forward with his life and multiple careers. This short course will examine his remarkable journey to renewal, the presidency, and his place on Mt. Rushmore.
