The bond market is the largest market in the world, estimated to be $143 trillion. The US currently has 40% of this debt outstanding. This course explores why this market holds such a powerful influence over governments, corporations, and investors like us. We will explore in three days: the simple mathematics behind bonds; the different types of issuers and buyers; the short history of the tremendous growth of this global market; and, importantly, why the bond markets determine how much you pay for mortgages, credit cards, and auto loans, and why it commands the attention of politicians.
