Monday
11:45 - 1:15
Starting March 04
Hybrid  and Online

This course will focus on major modernist architects of the 20th century who have works in the Washington area, including Frank Lloyd Wright, Mies van der Rohe, Eero Saarinen, Walter Gropius, Richard Neutra, I.M. Pei, and William Lescaze. In each case, we will begin with the architect's work in the Washington area, such as Mies' MLK Library, the Hechinger/England on Chain Bridge Road designed by Walter Gropius, and Saarinen's Dulles Airport. We will then review the architect's background and most notable works and will assess the architect's significance in the development of modernist architecture.
