Starting March 07
Online
Join us as we take a comprehensive look at the Harlem Renaissance, one of the most creative and influential movements in African American history. Centered in Harlem and spanning the 1920s and 1930s, the renaissance introduced African American literature, music, dance, art, fashion, theater, and politics to the world. You will learn about Harlem Renaissance greats, such as writer Zora Neal Hurston, poet Langston Hughes, jazz musician Louis Armstrong, actor Paul Robeson, singer/actress Ethel Waters, artist Aaron Douglas, activist leader Marcus Garvey, and many others. Each class will be led by a different presenter who has a special interest in a particular category of the renaissance. This group effort will make for a wide variety of informative and entertaining classes. This study group has a high class size capacity.
