Serendipity Talk: From Page to Stage: Muppets, Publishing, and Chutzpah

Andrew has been heckled by Robin Williams, wrote skits and performed them with the Jim Henson gang, and has seen  plays on the New York stage and his books on best sellers' list... Oh yeah, he's also an OLLI SGL. Now, his latest book, Hornytown Chutzpah, is about to hit shelves. If you're wondering about the title, it has to do with Bugs Bunny (plus the visual of a cartoon sign featuring a little red devil with big ole horns) and antisemitism. Multi-Hugo award winning literary critic Paul Weimer says Hiller's latest "keeps the pace lean and mean and knows when to move along the plot so that the story doesn’t flag. Like a screwball comedy, it knows exactly when to hit the comedy beats and when to become more serious. And it knows when to hit you in the heart and soul.” Join Andrew to discuss how serendipity played a role in his publishing adventures and work with the Muppets.

Driven by curiosity, Andrew Hiller’s stories always begin with a "huh?" or a "ha!" A longtime reporter and producer for public radio and an award-winning author, Andrew won Escape Pod’s 2022 Flash Fiction Contest and placed second in Amazing Stories 2023’s Reader Choice Awards. His novel, A Halo of Mushrooms, was selected 2019 Best Book by BFF.
