OLLI In-Person Walking Tour of Old Town Alexandria

Saturday, October 15, 10:00 AM-12:00 PM (Rain date: Sunday, October 16)

Meet at: Old Town Visitors Center (221 King Street, Alexandria, VA)

Fees: no charge

If you were not able to join us in August for our Virtual Tour of Old Town Alexandria, or if you would just like to see these sites in person, join us for this in-person walking tour of Old Town with OLLI's Tammy Belden! We will discuss and walk past the most important sites in Old Town such as Carlyle House, Old Presbyterian Meeting House, the Stabler-Leadbeater Apothecary, Christ Church and many others.

Alexandria has ties to so many of the famous events in our nation’s history including the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the French and Indian War, the Civil War, and even World War II. Our founding fathers conducted business and met socially there; Robert E. Lee spent part of his boyhood there; and the list goes on.

We will learn much more about this fascinating place on Saturday, October 15 at 10:00 AM. Stay afterward for lunch at one of Old Town’s many restaurants and go inside some of the historic buildings by purchasing a Museum Pass at the Visitors Center. In the event of questionable weather, please check your email for an update. There is no charge for this event. We will meet at the Old Town Visitors Center (221 King Street) and begin promptly at 10:00 AM. Please note that there will be 1-1.5 miles of walking over primarily level, paved surfaces. We hope you will join us for an interesting and fun time!

Rain date:  Sunday, October 16 (you will have received an email to confirm this)

Registration will close on Friday, October 14 at 8:00 AM or when 50 members have registered, whichever comes first.
