950: Christo versus Warhol: Brilliant Art and Eccentric Personalities

July 13-14
11:45 AM - 1:15 PM
Online

Christo, with wife Jeanne-Clause, were artists noted for landscape elements wrapped in fabric and turned epic-scale environmental works into temporary popular art requiring complex technical solutions. Across continents, they used mountains, islands, farmlands, museums and bridges. Christo felt that his art included the whole process — the workers, politics, negotiations and construction difficulties. Envisage Andy Warhol and you see soup cans, Marilyn’s, graphic videos, and gender-bending art. As portraitist, publisher, publicist and salesman he built a branded enterprise. These artists help us expand our ideas and definition of "What is Art?", learn how they transformed their creative ideas into art, and why they have become icons in modern art.  This study group has a high class size capacity.
